Jello Sugar Cookies
Jello sugar cookies are a colorful and somewhat more flavorful alternative
to regular sugar cookies. Since you're using packets of (unprepared)
jello mix as an ingredient, cookies come out more colorful and with
special flavors as well! We've found that this recipe works wonderfully
either as cut-outs or pushed through a cookie press to make spritz
cookies.
Ingredients
3 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 1/2 cups margarine or butter
1 cup white granular sugar
1 pkg. (3 oz.) Jello mix (any flavor, NOT prepared)
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
Instructions
Mix flour with baking powder and set aside. Cream margarine, gradually
add sugar and Jello, beating well. Beat in egg and vanilla. Gradually
add flour mixture, mixing well. Chill the dough for a few hours
before continuing.
Force dough through cookie press (or make cut outs) onto ungreased
baking sheets. Sprinkle with additional jello or colored sugars,
decorate if desired.
Makes about 10 doz (from press only - number of cutout cookies will
vary more).
Bake at 400 degrees about 8 minutes or until sides are golden brown.
